On the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of RA, a conference on “Vocational Education and Training as a reinforcement precondition for border communities” was launched in Berd, Tavush Marz, from 19-21st of May, 2017.
The choice of the conference venue aimed at drawing public attention to the issues and boost activities of border communities.
State and local authorities, representatives from VET institutions and business sector of Tavush Marz, international and national organizations and NGOs participated in the conference.
Reports were made on the development of country’s industrial and business sector, investments, business initiatives, anticipating staffing needs and the demand for professional skills, as well as on platforms for possible cooperation in border communities.
Within the framework of the conference the participants visited Tavush Regional State College and got acquainted with College’s development projects and logistics.
The participants had a meeting with Armenian-Canadian investor Vahram Vahramyan who suggested organizing short-term courses on woodworking in the College, so that young specialists with appropriate skills will get a job in corresponding business.
Conference participants also toured “Tavush Textile” and “Eco Garden” local production companies and discussed the ways of labor market- education cooperation.
