The participation of the Armenian national team in the "World Skills 2013" competition

"World Skills International" international organization was founded in 1946. in Spain, with the aim of assuring young people, their parents and employers that their future directly depends on an effective initial (vocational) and secondary vocational education system. For this purpose, in 1950 For the first time, the 1st international "World Skills" competition was organized in Madrid, with the participation of competitors from Spain and Portugal.

Competitions are organized once in 2 years. Currently, 65 countries are members of the "World Skills" international organization. Armenia has been a member of the organization since 2012, thanks to the initiative and financial support of the German International Cooperation Company (GIZ GmbH). The structure representing Armenia is the National Center for the Development of Vocational Education and Training (NCVEC), which was awarded a membership certificate by the "World Skills" international organization.

2013 From June 26 to July 8, the 42nd "World Skills" competition was held in Leipzig, Germany.

53 countries, 999 competitors with 46 skills, 964 experts participated in the competition. The national team of Armenia participated in 3 skills: jewelry, cooking and fashion technology.

1. Official delegate: Tatevik Gasparyan, MKUZAK director

2. Technical delegate: Vahagn Hovhannisyan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, program manager

3. Culinary expert: Garik Gevorgyan, executive director of the NGO "Development and Preservation of Armenian Cuisine Traditions"

4. Jewelry expert: Lilit Petrosyan, Yerevan jewelry factory, head of the technical department

5. Fashion expert: Seda Manukyan, ATEX fashion center, designer

6. Cooking participant: Araik Amzayan, Yerevan State Finance and Economics College

7. Participant in jewelry making: Aram Avetisyan, Yerevan Regional State College No. 1

8. Fashion participant: Arpine Ghukasyan, Yerevan State Humanitarian-Technical College.

9. Team leader: Karine Antonyan Yerevan Regional State College No. 1

In order to encourage the national team and observe the progress of the "World Skills" competition, Robert Abrahamyan, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RA Ministry of Education and Science (coordinator of the Armenian national team) and the head of the program "Development of human abilities and training of leaders in vocational education and training" of the German International Cooperation Company, arrived in Leipzig. manager Michaela Opfferman-Gertner.

Since the Armenian national team was participating for the first time, according to the established regulations, it could not claim prize medals, but the collected points document the team's successful participation in three skills:

  1. Jewelry. 467 points, 61 points less than the maximum score recorded in the competition
  2. Cooking. 456 points, 87 points less than the maximum score registered in the competition
  3. Fashion technology. 450 points, 90 points less than the maximum score registered in the competition.

Aram Avetisyan was recognized as the best participant of the Armenian national team.

Armenia's participation in the "World Skills" competition recorded the fact that the process of reforms in the VET sector can be evaluated positively.
