COVID-2019 and distance education. GIZ's support to Armenia's vocational education and training system
Due to the movement restrictions imposed by the government to prevent the COVID-2019 pandemic, all processes of public life, including vocational education and training (VET), have now moved to the online domain. This in turn requires improving the digital-technological capabilities of VET teachers and directors.
At the request of the German government, GIZ supports the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia in the development of digital learning through the "Private Sector Development and VET" program.
The "Introduction to eLearning" online course is currently providing training to 150 instructors and principals.
The course, which in 2019 Developed by the NGO "National Distance Learning Network" in cooperation with GIZ, it is now gaining exceptional importance.
Online opportunities in the education sector will be crucial even after the coronavirus pandemic in ensuring the involvement of special target groups, such as residents of remote areas of Armenia or students with special needs, and creating equal opportunities for them.
